Ungrateful Eyes: The Poem

We always watch the sky,

the stars,

the clouds,

all of nature around us

And after a while

we become immune to the beauty

we lose the awe,

the childlike wonder.

We begin to see with ungrateful eyes

and we no longer see

what is right in front

of us

We search for the reasons

why, the how

forgetting to appreciate

the now and the things

around us that draw our

attention
